Review: Cemetery Boys

This book broke my heart and put it back together again in such a lovely way.

Review: Iron Widow

This book was exactly the book I needed and wanted to read right now. It is violent and cathartic as it screams at the injustices of the traditional Chinese patriarchy in a dystopian future.

Review: I’d Tell You I love You, but Then I’d Have to Kill You

Sophronia is a character who is dreadfully curious about the world, but suffers from the societal restrictions of being a girl.

Review: Etiquette & Espionage

Sophronia is a character who is dreadfully curious about the world, but suffers from the societal restrictions of being a girl.

Review: Dreadnought – Nemesis Series

A superhero origin story. A trans teen taking on the mantle of a superhero despite crippling self doubt and anxiety.

Review: Cinder – Lunar Chronicles

I love that this is a fairy tale retelling, complete with cruel stepmother and stepsisters, dead father, but set in a future dystopian world. Cinder is a cyborg, meaning she is missing her foot and hand, and has implants all over her body. In this world she is a disposable citizen, made more so because of the plague that ravages the world.

Review: The Masked Truth

I couldn’t put down this story. The violence is quite high, but the gore is minimal, and the reader isn’t given much time to process it, much the same way that many YA stories have been written. (I’m looking at you Hunger Games.) The key is survival, and as a reader I’m rooting for Riley and Max the whole time.
